Chapter # 5

"Countdown to the Test" truly speaks to each teacher who is heavily involved within the testing process required in grades 3-5. A 4-week outline called KISS (Keep It Surprisingly Simple) is given that details all the strategies previously discussed in Crunchtime. The purpose, to prepare for writing assessments and strengthen areas of weakness, is carefully planned for you. Do you think the Writer's Toolbox will enhance your writing instruction? I was particularly drawn to "Ba-da-bing!" Using the 5 senses is the beginning for early writers to think about what they wish to say and carefully remember all details. It is a marvelous strategy! Which strategy do you think would have the greatest impact in your teaching?
